Steven Schappaugh, Principal

Steven Schappaugh is the principal of Roosevelt High School, where he has served since 2021.

He attended school in the district and graduated from North High School. Schappaugh earned a bachelor’s degree in history from Drake University and a master’s degree in management and administration from Nova Southeastern University in Florida.

“The opportunity to serve the Roosevelt community is an incredible professional opportunity, but it’s also personal,” said Schappaugh. “I attended Perkins and Callanan as a student. Today, my own daughter is a Hanawalt Hawk. I look forward to building on the proud history of Roosevelt and expanding it in new ways to inclusively serve students and families.”

In addition to serving as an associate principal at North High School, Schappaugh was a school improvement leader at East High School, the director of community engagement for the National Speech and Debate Association, and a teacher and department chair at Nova Southeastern University for seven years. In 2024, Schappaugh was named to the NSDA Hall of Fame.
