On September 14, 1814 Francis Scott Key penned the Star Spangled Banner. On Friday, the band and chorus at Roosevelt High School led the student body in a stirring tribute to the bicentennial of the national anthem. Wildlife filled Noreen Nsereko’s environmental science class at Roosevelt High School. Along with the red tailed boa constrictor, zoo officials brought in a marine toad, a blue and gold macaw and an American alligator to show to the class. Down the hall in Deb Henry’s biology class, students have been raising and releasing monarch butterflies.

The DMPS Social Studies Department is organizing a trip to the nation’s capital for DMPS high school students enrolled in US History/AP US History or US Government/AP US Government.
