Roosevelt Riders Prepare for RAGBRAI


On Sunday, 18 Roosevelt High School Rider Cyclers will saddle up for RAGBRAI and pedal from the Missouri to the Mississippi. The group started a few years ago with two members and now more than a dozen students train on the Urban Loop and the Great Western Trail. Good luck to Team Roosevelt High School! Back-to-School Health Fair on July 26


Free physicals and other health services are available for students grades K-12. The Jumpstart Back-to-School Health Fair will be held at East High School this year on Saturday, July 26 from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Sponsored by the Polk County Health Department and Des Moines University. Click the image for more details.


Strong is National Coach of the Year!


After this past weekend’s National Speech and Debate Tournament, Roosevelt High School continues to be one of the most decorated teams in the nation.  Coach, Harry Strong, (pictured at left) was named the 2014 National Coach of the Year. Click the headline to read more about Riders’ Debate.


Roberts-Lewis: Gatorade Athlete of the Year


Roosevelt High School has a long legacy of top female track and field athletes. The legacy got longer today as Jalynn Roberts-Lewis was named the 2013-14 Gatorade Iowa Girls Track & Field Athlete of the Year. Thank you for your service!


Roosevelt has six new retirees who have given excellent service to our school.  Congratulations to administrators Nancy Elliott and Sue Marcucci (pictured), World Language teacher, Sue Davis, Special Education teachers Sue Jansen and Mike O’Malia and math teacher, Jim Wilson.  We have learned so much from your expertise, wisdom and caring! Girls’ Tennis takes 3rd in State!


Congratulations to the Girls’ Tennis Team for placing 3rd in the State Tennis Championship Meet!  We are so PROUD of you!  Meera Prasad and Mary Hill were crowned Doubles Champions!  Alex Kozlowski placed 5th in the state in Individuals!

Senior Events and Information

Graduation is May 24, 2014!  Check out college information under the Academics tab on the menu bar above (Academics > Counseling > Counseling PLC).  Transcript request forms are under the STUDENT tab– first 5 are free with an addressed stamped envelope; $2 per transcript after request number 5.  A Seniors 2014 folder under the Student tab will be coming soon.  Forms for college visits, the senior calendar , deadline infomation,  important announcements for students and families for the Class of 2014 will be posted under the Student tab as it becomes available.  Check regularly!
