Roosevelt Riders Head to State XC Meet

Lady Tankers win the Central Iowa Metro League !


The Lady Tankers won the Central Iowa Metro League (CIML)Metro Championship Meet for the 14th year in a row. The sixty-nine member Roosevelt team won both the varsity and junior varsity portions of the meet. The team won all six relays. Sophomore Natalie Galluzzo took home four gold medals. She was on two relays that finished first and she won her two individual races: 200 Individual Medley and 100 Yard Breast.


Roosevelt’s Robotics Team, aka Team Cloud 9


At the beginning of last night’s School Board meeting, Team Cloud 9 – the new robotics team here at Roosevelt High School – talked about their work and presented their latest creation. A student-led initiative with support from our physics teacher, it’s one more example of the STEM opportunities at DMPS. Click the photo to read and see more.

Roosevelt Students on National Journal Panel


Nosa Ali is from Sudan. Brenda Vasquez’s family emigrated from El Salvador. While their origins are different, their paths have brought them to Roosevelt High School. On Wednesday, they will serve as panelists on the National Journal’s “The Next America: Population 2043″ town hall meeting. Click the photo to meet Nosa and Brenda, and learn more about the event.


Roosevelt Senior Wins Top Scholarship


Roosevelt Senior Lucia Ruppert was granted a top scholarships in the state wide Herbert Hoover Uncommon Student awards. Ruppert wrote – “The Adventures of Lucy & Lulu” a children’s book that she wrote, illustrated and self-published.

Senior Events and Information

Graduation is May 23, 2015!  Check out college information under the Academics tab on the menu bar above (Academics > Counseling > Counseling PLC).  Transcript request forms are under the STUDENT tab– first 5 are free with an addressed stamped envelope; $2 per transcript after request number 5.  A Seniors information folder is located under the Student tab.  Forms for college visits, the senior calendar , deadline infomation,  important announcements for students and families for the Class of 2015 will be posted under the Student tab as it becomes available.  Check regularly!
